What is low-level laser therapy?
Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is the therapeutic use of laser light at a low intensity. LLLT commonly uses lasers in the near-infrared, visible or red portions of the spectrum.
We use: Class IIIa Low-Level or what is known as a “Cold Laser”; a non-invasive alternative, compared to traditional acupuncture that uses a threadlike filiform needle.
Most patients feel nothing at all during low-level laser therapy, while some describe energetic sensations or an energetic shift in their body.
What are the benefits of low-level laser therapy?
Low-level laser therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain, substance addictions and skin conditions. LLLT has also been found to be anti-inflammatory and aid in treating conditions such as carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia, headaches & migraines, Sjoegren's syndrome and many others. The therapy works by increasing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and protein synthesis within cells, improving cell proliferation. The change in cell membrane permeability promotes calcium up-take and pain relief as a result of increased endorphin and serotonin levels. This therapy strengthens the immune system response by increasing levels of lymphocyte activity and through a newly researched mechanism called photo modulation of blood. LLLT provides acupuncture point stimulation without the use of traditional acupuncture needles.
