Veterans Aided by Acupuncture Scientifically Proven

What Studies Say

In 2014, the National Library of Medicine released a publication that detailed research in support of complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) for veterans. Medical practitioners would find that veterans often displayed symptoms that were difficult to treat. The reason for this is veterans are often subject to chronic multi-system illness (CMI) meaning multiple biological systems are being impacted simultaneously. Because of this condition, standard treatments that were designed to isolate one biological or anatomical issue were not very effective.

A study was done at The War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC-DC) that eventually led to a Veteran Affairs program (VA) that promotes CIM. Because of this, veterans everywhere were attracted to acupuncture treatments for this multi-system chronic illness. According to studies and research, these methods proved to be effective in helping relieve veterans of symptoms such as including nausea, headaches, musculoskeletal pain, fibromylagia, insomnia, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addiction.

Acupuncture is a practice where multiple needles are inserted into certain nerve points throughout the body. This stimulates the central nervous system, causing it to release chemicals that aid in the muscular system and the rest of the nervous system. It is a practice that originated in China over 2,500 years ago and has plenty of scientific research and support for its effectiveness to treat CMI and other chronic conditions.

The question is, if the National Library of Medicine (NLM), and the WRIISC-DC have developed programs for veterans to treat their chronic conditions through CIM of acupuncture practices, and have seen great results from it, why not give it a try yourself? The human body is a large system made up of other smaller systems. The smaller systems are all working together and are impacted by one another. The effects are experienced by the whole system, and we as humans experience these effects but oftentimes have a difficult time describing the experience. At the same time, standard medical practitioners are often challenged in providing a singular treatment or diagnosis.

Acupuncture is an all encompassing treatment that activates the central nervous system, which communicates with all other systems in the body for optimal function. Its effectiveness is scientifically proven, and perhaps it is what you need for whatever chronic condition you are suffering with.
